  6. 4 Skin Problems that you can solve with CBD

CBD oil is a natural active ingredient derived from the Cannabis sativa industrial cannabis species. CBD cannabinoid has so many positive effects on the human body, we often joke that every person has at least one ailment CBD oil could help with. CBD is used to relieve insomnia and chronic pain, and to help relieve autoimmune diseases, anxiety and depression. It is also popular as a natural remedy against insomnia and as an additional boost for the immune system. Lately, the use of CBD oil for the skin has also been gaining a lot of attention. Because the skin has its own endocannabinoid system to which the CBD cannabinoid binds, it is effective in a wide range of skin problems. What skin problems does CBD work on best?

    • CBD and psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease where skin cells grow and divide at an accelerated rate. Eczema start appearing on the skin as a result of this division and they are usually red with a silver outline but can also be pink or brown in colour. Psoriasis is a disease that doesn’t have a cure yet, but various therapies do exist to mitigate its symptoms. A lot can be done to alleviate the symptoms by adjusting your lifestyle, maintaining a balanced diet and with moderate exposure to the sun. CBD cannabinoid is also becoming an increasingly popular natural remedy for psoriasis outbreaks and several studies have shown the effect it has on decelerating skin cell division. CBD cannabinoid also has anti-inflammatory properties which additionally soothe psoriasis conditions.

    • Acne and skin impurities – CBD’s double effect

Acne and skin impurities are not exclusive to teenagers, they often occur in adulthood As well. Most commonly the causes acne are hormonal imbalances, stress, an unhealthy diet and improper skin care. Their formation is caused by an increased secretion of sebum (tallow) and the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. Sebum normally plays an important role in skin protection, but when the skin produces too much of it, it can also cause unwanted acne. Our fight against acne can take place on multiple levels – with a healthy diet, regular cleansing of dead skin cells, avoiding stress and regular physical activity. Of course, proper skin care that balances the skin and brings it to a healthy and radiant state is crucial, and CBD cannabinoid is undoubtedly an active ingredient which, when it comes to acne skin care, is very promising. Why is CBD a great ally in the fight against acne.

    1. 1.       CBD reduces the formation of sebum in sebaceous tissues

Clincal studies have shown that the CBD molecule reduces the formation of sebum in the sebaceous glands, which is highly desired in acne-prone skin care, as the formation of sebum is the most common culprit of acne.

    2. CBD has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties

CBD carries out complex anti-inflammatory and antibacterial actions demonstrated also in many other experimental studies on diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Red acne (not blackheads) are the result of inflammatory skin changes that CBD cannabinoid can successfully calm down.

    CBD cannabinoid and atopic dermatitis

Dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease that most commonly occurs in children. About 10% of children under the age of 6 are affected. Dermatitis is more common in cold months and is characterized by red, itchy rashes. If you visit your doctor with a case of dermatitis, they will almost always prescribe treatment with corticosteroid creams. Such creams are effective in relieving the symptoms, but unfortunately, they also have a lot of negative side effects on the skin and body. Often, when the treatment with corticosteroids is completed, the original problem returns.
CBD cannabinoid has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and body. Atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory disease, so CBD has a positive effect on it.

CBD is all the more effective because our skin has its own endocannabinoid system onto which CBD can bind itself directly when it’s in the form of an ointment. This way it has a quick and targeted effect on the problem, calming the skin and restoring its balance. CBD also soothes itchiness and redness, two of the more prominent problems of atopic dermatitis.

CBD oil is also effective with seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis is a fairly common chronic inflammatory skin disease that most often affects the face and scalp area. It appears in the form of red, scaly skin on the scalp and around the hairline, often manifesting itself behind the ears and in the skin folds (elbows, knees, under the breasts). The main cause is the increased production of sebum in the sebaceous glands. CBD is a great ally in the care of seborrheic dermatitis. Why?

    1. CBD slows the secretion of sebum

The most common cause of seborrheic dermatitis is the excessive secretion of sebum from the sebaceous glands. Because CBD has been proven to reduce sebum secretion, it is effective in the fight against seborrheic dermatitis. Because of this, it is also effective in treating acne and impure skin.

    2. CBD slows down cell proliferation on the skin...

Dog dandruff is a very unpleasant condition to deal with. In the beginning, as pet owners, you may not notice your dog is struggling with it. However, as time goes on, you’ll start to see that your dog has very dry skin. The dry skin may begin to flake off and eventually result in scabbing. It doesn’t help that your pup is probably scratching themselves all day.

That’s what we’re going to tackle today; let’s learn more about what dog dandruff is. Then, we’ll discuss the causes and treatment methods you can use to relieve your dog of those unwanted, itchy symptoms.

    What is Dandruff?

There are two common types of dandruff:

Primary Seborrhea: This type of dandruff is rare and commonly found in your dog’s genes.

Secondary Seborrhea: This type of dandruff is more common in dogs. Typically, secondary seborrhea is in dogs that experience allergies and/or diseases of the skin. Secondary seborrhea may come on quickly, so our advice is to seek treatment fast.

    What Causes Dandruff?

Environmental and food triggers lead to allergies, and allergies lead to dandruff in dogs. Some of the more commonly known environmental and food triggers are as follows:

    • Pollen
    • Dust
    • Household Cleaners
    • Saliva of Fleas
    • Food – your dog may be allergic to anything he or she eats

There are a few diseases that may cause dandruff as a side effect, too. These include endocrine disorders like Cushing disease and hypothyroidism. Additional situations that may cause dandruff in different areas of the body including:

    • Fungal infections
    • Yeast infections
    • Internal and external parasites
    • Abnormal diet
    • Obesity
    • Humidity levels

    Traditional Dandruff Treatment

Unfortunately, traditional dandruff treatments vary greatly. Because there are too many reasons dandruff could be affecting your dog, there are too many options for treatment.

For instance, if your dog is going through a bacterial, fungal, or yeast infection, and dandruff is a resulting symptom, you’ll need antibiotics to treat the initial cause. However, if the dandruff is because of dry skin, there are several options you can choose from to prevent any further discomfort. For example, you can groom and bathe your dog regularly. A balanced diet can help with promoting a healthy coat and layer of skin, too.

Can CBD Help Treat Dandruff in Dogs?

With dandruff comes discomfort and inflammation, and what is CBD oil good for? Reducing discomfort and inflammation.

If you’d like our advice, we’d recommend either giving your dog daily dosages of CBD oil or applying a CBD product such as lotion to his or her skin. 10. CBD for Breast Cancer October Awareness Month

CBD for Breast Cancer October Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time for standing with breast cancer survivors and spreading awareness of the disease. Every year around 46,000 people are diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  This month is their time to stand up and fight back, and Mary Jane Labs wants to help.

    Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer is the most common diagnosed cancer among women in the United Kingdom. Almost nine in 10 (87%) women survive breast cancer for five years or more. Breast cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the past 40 years in the UK due to a combination of improvements in treatment and care, earlier detection through screening and a focus on targets, including faster diagnosis.
An estimated 600,000 people are alive in the UK after a diagnosis of breast cancer. This is predicted to rise to 1.2 million in 2030. For many the overwhelming emotional and physical effects of the disease can be long-lasting.

Accounts from breast cancer survivors tell a harrowing story of fighting back, overcoming great personal turmoil to persevere in the face of adversity. Being diagnosed with breast cancer can be terrifying, and living with breast cancer is no easy feat. The common symptoms of breast cancer include:

    • Lumps in the underarm
    • Swelling of parts of the breast
    • Skin irritation
    • Redness or flaky skin
    • Nipple discharge including blood
    • Pain in breast

Although treating breast cancer can bring about other symptoms. Side effects of Chemotherapy and radiation such as:

    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Diarrhoea
    • Constipation
    • Pain
    • Arm swelling
    • Shortness of breath
    • Skin irritation

    Can CBD Help?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many cannabinoids that can be found in hemp and marijuana, two types of cannabis plants. CBD may help people with cancer manage some symptoms of the disease as well as side effects of treatment. Scientists are also looking into how CBD could aid cancer treatment, but more research is needed before any conclusions can be made.

Marijuana has enough tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to get you high, but hemp does not. CBD itself has no psychoactive compounds. However, CBD products may have trace amounts of THC.

These are just a few studies addressing the potential of cannabinoids to help treat cancer. Still, it’s far too soon to say that CBD is a safe and effective treatment for cancer in humans. CBD shouldn’t be considered a substitute for other cancer treatment.

Some areas for future research include:

    • the effects of CBD with and without other cannabino
