endcannabinoid system

  1. Endocannabinoids are in Breast Milk

    What are Endocannabinoids?

Your body creates chemicals called Endocannabinoids that are part of your Endocannabinoid system. They help regulate your body. These chemicals are elevated when you consume cannabis products like CBD hemp oil and these chemicals are also present in breast milk.

There are two main endocannabinoids that our bodies make and they mainly bind to a particular cannabinoid receptor. The way that they work is through a process called retrograde signalling where they travel backward through the synapse to the brain cell sending messages. The endocannabinoid binds to a cannabinoid receptor sending a message helps control the activity in the brain.

    Anandamide

Anandamide is the cannabinoid that mainly binds to the CB1 cannabinoid receptor that is located mostly in the brain. This interaction helps t...

  4. Can CBD help you through this winter?

With the cooler seasons coming up, many of us are likely to suffer from one of the common winter bugs. Whether that’s a cold, dry skin or even more serious conditions like bronchitis. These illnesses take a toll on our bodies. But could using CBD help us get through these colder months?

    What is CBD?

CBD is one of many compounds that are found in the cannabis plant unlike THC. CBD is non psychoactive, meaning that it can give the benefits of the cannabis without the “high”. CBD works indirectly with CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body. The human body has an endocannabinoid system, and when natural cannabinoids are used, it helps to regulate functions such as sleep, appetite, mood, memory and fertility.

  5. CBD Has Neuroprotective Properties

    Neurons

Neurons, also known as nerve cells, send and receive signals from your brain. While neurons have a lot in common with other types of cells, they’re structurally and functionally unique.

Specialized projections called axons allow neurons to transmit electrical and chemical signals to other cells. Neurons can also receive these signals via rootlike extensions known as dendrites.

When born, the human brain consists of an estimated 100 Billion Neurons. Un like other cells, neurons. Do not reproduce or regenerate. They do not replace when they have died.

The creation of new nerve cells is called neurogenesis. While this process isn’t well understood, it may occur in some parts of the brain after birth.

As researchers gain insight into both neurons and neurogenesis, many are also working to uncover links to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

A neuron (also known as nerve cell) is an electrically excitable...

However, beyond medicinal purposes, cannabidiol can also be used to give your sex life a boost.

    The Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system is found in the human body and contains the largest number of receptors out of any system. CB1 and CB2 receptors are found in the brain and nervous system, while CB2 receptors are located in the immune system and on many organs.

    Cannabinoids are naturally pr...

  8. Serotonin, CBD and your brain

    Serotonin, CBD and your brain

The human brain is complex, and upon close inspection, the mind that perception possible just gets even more complicated.

Within the brain are millions of “tree shaped” extensions that form interconnected pathways of information and energy transfer. These “tree shaped” figures are responsible for sending the signals that, if they fire off correctly, produce things and thoughts. Their signals are propelled along by electricity in the form of nerve impulses.

This is where the Endocannabinoid system comes into the picture.

You have read about the intricacies of the endocannabinoid system before, but did you know that this system helps regulate electrical flow by operating independently of it? While most neurotransmitter are carried along with nerve impulse, much like kayaks flowing down stream, endocannabinoids are uniq...
